Basic Manners
- Do not bring in unnecessary items to the bathing area.
- Even though it is a relaxation area, it is a public area! Please do not bring in books or magazines, drinks, or children's toys.
- Do not bother others with loud conversation.
- Be careful about conversation volume and content! Sento is a place where people go to relax and relieve stress.
- Do not overly attract attention.
- Sento is where everyone is naked, so manners are important. Please do not do anything to cause emotional distress to others.
- Do not use for anything other than bathing.
- Sento is not a place for peeking and hollering. Women, men, and kids all need to follow this rule.
- Do not bring home the sento's supplies.
- Shampoo and conditioner belong to the sento so do not bring them home.
Bathing manners
- Do not forget to pre wash.
- Before bathing, please pour water on yourself to keep the bath clean and acclimate to the bath.
- Keep hair together
- If your hair is longer than shoulder length, tie it together. The bath may become unsanitary if hair and dust and dandruff fall into the bath.
- Do not rub your body in the bath
- Do not rub off dead skin inside the bath. Please clean yourself before bathing.
- Do not put your towel in the bath.
- It is not good to enter the bath while wrapped in a towel. Towels that look clean will still have bacteria.
- Keep children in sight.
- Accidents have been happening even in home bathtubs. Never let children leave your sight.
- Do not enter the bath when not feeling good.
- Avoid bathing during your period or when experiencing stomach pain or nausea. It may contaminate the bath for everyone.
Washing area manners
- Do not leave items in the washing area.
- The washing area is for everyone. Do not claim space by leaving bathing items.
- Put back items after use.
- Please put back any used chairs and buckets after rinsing with water. Do not leave trash or bathing goods.
- Do not rub your body in the bath
